Who doesn't like APEX especially updatable tabular form

I was introduced to Oracle APEX not long ago when it was out in the market as HTMLDB 1.5. It was my first project after promotion into Senior Developer. It was a dejavu all over because I was not shy from Lotus Notes. APEX also known previously as HTMLDB is almost similar to Lotus Domino. There is a canvas for the developer to work on. There is a server to process the request and result shown on internet browser. The structure for processing is organized. It is easy for veteran developer like me to use.

I fell in love with APEX at first sight. Four years had passed, many programs were created and now Apex is running on version 3.1.2. It is much better and easier to use. These past few months I was building a complex application on APEX. My projection was for 6 months but the management cut it into half. Trying to use collection on a manual tabular form was a headache. Firstly, there are many techniques on creating and truncating the collection. Then, the most complex function I have to built was to auto generate a sequence number with specific formatting from the collection. Expectation from the top management is very high on this project. I maintain my focus on the tasks at hand. Some people who were jealous want me to fail. But I stood on my ground and successfully came out with quality product.

On one function, I have to build multiple rows without any value. Then on the other function, I have to manipulate data with multiple updates. It was chaotic. And to think that I was able to write more than thousands line of codes, qualify a pat on my shoulder. Although the application is with the customer for testing, there is still security function yet to be written. But that is a piece of cake. I have all the plans for it.

I am proud of myself for successfully completing all the tasks. I have been going home later than my quitting time almost every day. I was exhausted but happy to erase all my pressure and tension out of my memory as soon as I reached home. I will turn on to my internet TV and bring my small laptop into the kitchen while I am preparing dinner.

Today is a holiday for the veterans. I am enjoying an absolute nothingness at home. I did offer myself to take the left over candy for the Halloween back to the store. But honey doesn’t trust me to drive straight back home. He was right to think that I would first walk around the women’s section and pick out some outfit, then I will probably walk around the frozen and vegetables section of the store and grab some food. I might also swing by to the next door store for some unnecessary items. I am ok with his thoughts. I had just purchased 4 tops from Penny last weekend. I should not be going to any mall or department store for many months. I should let my wallet get a rest.

The whole day I spent watching some of the missing TV series from OnDemand. I find it time will stay still or moving at a very slow rate if I do not do anything. Tomorrow, the first thing in the morning I have to do at work is to finish some of the codes. Then by lunch time I will have to stop by at the garden to return the passes. The garden is officially close for the winter. I had good crops through out summer.

I was planning to fry fish for dinner tonight. But honey said he will take me out to dinner. I better get ready.

Update: 8:31 pm.
I just came back from Applebees. Yes, it was sweet to pay $0 for honey's meal. He was ex army officer. I couldn't even finish half of my fish and chips and had to pack it home. That cold meal will be great for my lunch at work tomorrow.

Now that the garden is 'quieter', you can devote time for other things.

Keats The Sunshine Girl,
Maybe I will pick up working on my knitting and crochetting.

Dhill,
Work has become part of our life and it is something we cannot get it off of our mind easily. My husband is not helping too because he told me to write every incident in my outlook journal. Emmm....
